100 Online Casinos Accredited by eCOGRA
23 Aug 2006
eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA) announced on the 14th of August that it had accomplished its goal to grant accreditation to over 100 poker rooms and online casinos by the end of the year 2006. In May 2006 the organization that ensures the safety and legality of online casinos announced that it would seek to award 100 seals by the end of the year. At that time, eCOGRA had 76 accredited online casino sites. In only three short months it had already awarded its "Play it Safe" seal to a total of 107 online casino sites.
The online casino and poker room sites that earn the seal are the top internet gambling sites. These online casinos and poker rooms make use of a range of software providers, including important providers On Game and Micro Gaming. The increase in awarding the seals reflects an increased demand for accreditation by online casinos. Indeed , a growing number of online casinos want to commit to higher levels of safety, player security, efficiency and service, thus delivering a higher level of gaming experience.
eCOGRA is especially proud of this achievement, because of what it signifies about the online gaming industry. eCOGRA CEO Andrew Beveridge commented: "Not only is this a major milestone for eCOGRA, these 107 seals signify a major change in the industry in which players are consistently seeking out the "Play It Safe" seal, and there is a real desire and ability for the industry to self-regulate." Beveridge called for online casino sites that are willing to comply with eCOGRA's standards to join those that have already attained the seal.
